Hansen the Truck Stop Dog

Inspired by a true story, Hansen the Truck Stop Dog is a heartwarming children’s book about loyalty, courage, and the power of trust. Based on the rescue of a livestock guardian dog who watched over his two sheep near a truck stop in Southern Idaho. Hansen’s journey reminds us that sometimes those who do the protecting need saving too.

Book cover for 'Hansen the Truck Stop Dog' by Wendy Drasdo, illustrated by Annie Gallup. The cover features three white dogs standing in a grassy field with a truck stop and moving train in the background, with birds flying in the sky.

On the edge of the Snake River Canyon,

a livestock guardian dog watched over two sheep

on a narrow strip of land

between a busy highway and a five-hundred-foot drop.

He wasn’t a stray. He was doing his job.

This is the story of Hansen, and the people who worked patiently to earn his trust.

Just as Hansen found safety and care, every purchase helps other dogs at Unega Mountain Dog Rescue
